HOW IT’S MADE · WRIST RESTS
Every wrist rest goes through five hands-on stages — mixing, layering, curing, sanding, and polishing — before it’s ready to ship. Here’s what actually happens in the studio.
We start with a silicone mold sized to a standard keyboard layout, cleaned and coated with release agent. The epoxy resin (part A) and hardener (part B) are measured and hand-stirred clockwise for 3–5 minutes until fully clear, with no streaks left in the mix.
Any tiny air bubbles from mixing are removed next — either by letting the mix rest, or by running it through a vacuum degassing chamber or pressure pot.
Molds: 60% / 68% / 75% / 87% / TKL / 104-key
This is where the look of each piece actually comes together. A thin clear layer is poured first as a base and left to reach a semi-cured, gel-like state.
Once the design is set, a final clear layer is poured to seal everything in, and a heat gun or torch is passed quickly over the surface to clear any bubbles left on top.
The poured piece is left to cure at room temperature for 24–48 hours, or cured under pressure in a pressure pot at 35–45 PSI, which forces out any microbubbles that would otherwise stay trapped and visible in the final piece.
Once fully hardened, the piece is carefully released from the mold. The edges and underside — which usually have some shrinkage or excess resin from the pour — are wet-sanded by hand through five grit stages, each one finer than the last.
400 → 800 → 1500 → 3000 → 5000 grit
Buffing compound and a wool polishing wheel bring the surface back to a glass-like, mirror-clear finish. As a final step, anti-slip silicone feet are attached to the underside so the piece stays put on your desk.
Every wrist rest in the shop went through this exact five-stage process — start to finish, by hand.
